CADAN is pleased to announce the exhibition Remaining Fragments: Yasutake Iwana, Yasuko Hirano, and Naoko Matsumoto at the new CADAN Yurakucho space. The three featured artists in this exhibition, Yasutake Iwana, Yasuko Hirano, and Naoko Matsumoto, each approach painting with their unique methods derived from different starting points.
Iwana depicts the memories of the land and the lives of people living in the mountain village of Shimagahara (former Shimagahara Village) in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, which still remains today. Hirano starts with her underlying "landscape", layering primary colors of paint and capturing the images and shapes that arise from there onto the canvas. Matsumoto paints as if extracting colors and shapes that resonate with her as she draws motifs that serve as hints.
This exhibition is structured under the common understanding of "fragments of memory" that emerged as the three artists engaged in dialogue. We invite you to take this opportunity to view their works in person.
*This exhibition is co-organized by taguchi fine art (Tokyo), KOKI ARTS (Tokyo), and TEZUKAYAMA GALLERY (Osaka).
