KOKI ARTS is pleased to host Koutaro Inoue's solo exhibition, Short Arabesque. This exhibition will showcase new paintings, and will be Inoue's first solo exhibition with the gallery.

The portraits and landscapes that Inoue depicts appear as if they are from a dream. The fragmentary scenes do not express much but possess a distinct world of their own. Inoue intentionally excludes emotion and narrative from his paintings, but paradoxically, the more he practices this, the more his images become universal, which ultimately enables the viewer to develop a sense of empathy.

Koutaro Inoue (b.1982) graduated from Osaka College of Art in 2005 and started to exhibit his works in Tokyo in 2007. This will be his second time exhibiting at KOKI ARTS, his first since a group exhibition in 2013. Recent exhibitions include the Sompo Japan Art Award Exhibition FACE 2014, a group exhibition at TOKIO OUT of PLACE, and a solo exhibition at GALLERY MoMo Ryogoku.
